Punta del Sol Beach Resort: Your Place in the Sun in Samal

Samal Island or the Island Garden City of Samal is 301.3 square kilometers of forest, mountains, hills, urban centers and white sand beaches.

The island, which has a population of 95, 874, is a favorite destination among tourists who flock to the beach during summer.

One of the popular accommodations in Samal is the Punta del Sol Beach Resort in the town of Peñaplata. The resort received an accreditation from the Department of Tourism Region XI because of its class A lodging and amenities that can accommodate 150 guests.

Punta del Sol also offers a tour package around the island of  Talikud and an underwater experience.

The serene picturesque water of Davao Bay can be viewed from the lounge of the resort, making it my favorite spot.

Pro tip: Take advantage of the beautiful white sand beaches of Talikud once the island implements an open beach policy.

How to get there:

Major airlines fly daily to Davao City from Manila and Cebu.Fifteen minutes from the airport is Sta. Ana Wharf where you jump-off point to Punta del Sol.  It would take a 20-minute boat ride to get to the resort.

You can also ride the ferry passenger boat at Km. 11 in Sasa and upon docking in Samal, ride the habal-habal for another 7 kilometers to Punta del Sol.

Samal has a waterfall that would make you beat the heat.

Visit a tribe and learn their culture in Tagbaobo, Samal.
