SECDEA: Fancy Resort in Samal Island Offers Restful Respite

Samal Island or the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS) is a beach lover’s haven.  It has long stretches of white sand beaches and coves plus islands with resorts ranging from the backpackers to the most exclusive.

One resort that offers first class amenities is SECDEA.

SECDEA stands for the initials of the owners’ names.  One can enjoy the blue skies and seas, bi pools, good food and rest and relaxation.

A year ago, I and my travel buddy and Choose Philippines travel insider Olan Emboscado were accommodated at a cottage that was structurally designed like a seashell.  This time, we had the best view of the pool and the sea from the newest East View Rooms.

SECDEA now has two infinity pools to choose from.  You can take a dip, swim some laps or just enjoy floating and gazing at the blue sky.  The lounge chairs under the trellises are the perfect spots to relax.

If you want to go fishing, there is a pond full of tilapia that you can catch to be cooked.

If you happen to be there during the Holy Week, there are Stations of the Cross and a chapel for the pilgrim.

There is also a mosque right outside the gates of the resort for our Muslim brothers and sisters.

On top of the hill is the best place to view the resort.

After the day’s activities, wind down at the restaurant and have a delicious meal of the resort’s special dishes like pinakbet and twice-cooked adobo.

Take a walk on the beach after the filling dinner and when it is time to go back to your room, the comfortable beds and pillows will surely put you to sleep.

Make sure to wake up early to catch the sunrise from the beach.

How to Get There:

Samal Island is 15 minutes away from the airport of Davao City. Major airlines fly daily to Davao City from Manila and Cebu.

For bookings and inquiries, you may reach SECDEA at Davao Office: 082.295.7912 and 0925.892.6072
